Hutt Valley Joins Global Art Project
The Hutt Valley and Te Omanga Hospice have officially joined a global art project that invites people to contemplate death and reflect upon their lives by asking “Before I Die I want to…”
With the help of our talented volunteers, Bob and Evan, we’ve created a ‘Before I Die’ wall in celebration of Dying to Know Day in August. Originally created by Candy Chang on an abandoned house in New Orleans after the death of a loved one, there are now over 5,000 walls in 78 countries and 36 languages.
The purpose of the wall is to bring to life conversations and community action around death, dying and grief. It’s our belief that palliative care is everyone’s business and we all have a part to play in supporting each other at end of life and in grief.
Join in the conversation by visiting the wall at one of the following Hutt City libraries:
- 3 – 9 August: Petone Library
- 10 – 15 August: Lower Hutt War Memorial Library
- 7 – 23 August: Wainuiomata Library
- 24 – 30 August: Upper Hutt Library
