The Garden of Appreciation is a joint community project between Te Omanga Hospice, Rotary Club of Hutt River Valley and the Hutt City Council. Since its inception in November 2005, it has enjoyed the support of families who are looking to create a permanent tribute to a loved one or to commemorate a special event or memory.
Located in Bracken Street, Petone, the garden has increasingly become a popular space for those wishing to spend time in remembrance and reflection, or even to enjoy a family picnic together.
Engraved bricks are laid along pathways in the garden, each one a lasting reminder of someone or something special.
Quality Clay bricks are supplied for $130 each and this gives you up to 28 letters in 2 lines of 14 characters, including spaces. The inscription is engraved into the brick, which then becomes a lasting record of your donation. A portion of the cost goes directly to Te Omanga Hospice.
We lay the bricks once a year and hold a ceremony in November. All those who have purchased a brick, will be invited to join us at the ceremony.
