We all know that our environment can affect us in many ways, which is why at Te Omanga Hospice we work hard to provide a warm and comforting place – a homely space – for our patients and their families.
Our success in creating this sense of home is largely due to the way our Volunteers interact with patients, families and staff.
Volunteer Housekeepers clean the Inpatient Unit daily, being careful not to intrude on patients and their families. In fact they bring a sense of normality to what may be seen as a clinical environment.
Housekeepers work as one of a team of three, and are rostered on one morning a week, between the hours of 9.00 and 11.00am.
