Kitchen Helpers

Kitchen Helper Volunteers work with the Kitchen Supervisor between 10.00am and 1.00pm to prepare nutritional, appetising meals for patients.

At Te Omanga Hospice we pride ourselves on the quality of our cuisine and our volunteers. Our Kitchen Helper Volunteers take extra care to serve the meals attractively so they are appealing to the patients.

Volunteer Tea Duty

Volunteers who do the tea duty serve the light evening meal between 5.00pm and 6.30pm. The meals are pre-prepared and only require heating and serving.

Volunteers are rostered according to their availability – this can be once a week, fortnight or, on weekends, once a month.

For many years I have helped in the kitchen. For me there is a lot of satisfaction in doing this. Every alternate Monday I help with lunch, morning tea, dishes etc. The friends I have made over this time are very special to me, along with helping the concept of hospice
